Daring to change and always moving forward best describe Acbel's history of progress. In 1981, when the company was in its infancy, it focused primarily on trading in electronic components. In 1983, the company started to manufacture parts, including transformers and inductors. The company entered the power supply industry in 1983 and began shipping products to IBM in the following year.

In 1996, the company increased its capital and went through a reorganization, broadening the scope of its power supply production. In addition, the company changed its official name from the API Technology Co. to Acbel Polytech Inc. in 1998.

To best serve its diverse customers, Acbel is divided into three divisions: Electronic Components and Two separate Power Supply Divisions.

The Electronic Components Division representing world class manufacturers in dealing with active and passive components for domestic and the regional markets.

Today, Acbel has manufacturing operations in Taiwan, Mainland China,Thailand,Philippines,and has service and distribution offices around the world. To expand production capacity, Acbel began construction in 1997 on a new plant in Dong Guan located in Mainland China's Goang Dong Provice.
